Have anyone ever tried with a BMW 4 cyl 2 liter from 2002 and first years of 320, curious to know if it will fit a roadster.

I looked at the BMW e30 engines early on in my consideration of swap options. If I recall, the general dimensions were okay, but I was stopped cold by the fact that BMWs have the exhaust is on the "wrong side". This would not be a deal-breaker for all, but my whole philosophy was based on not permanently altering the car, so...
In a more general sense, I think that the expense of the parts for this engine/drivetrain would outweigh the benefits (which are?). Although, if you live in the LA area, the e30s are thick on the ground in salvage yards. Still, you can get just as much out of a Miata powerplant or a Zetec for a whole lot less money.
Jesse.

The laid-over 4 cylinders are nice for carburetor and hood clearance. I like Volvo engines, 2.3 liters, but IIRC, light and compact they aren't. A Volvo 850 5 cyl would be fun though, just to watch people count the spark plugs..
