Just picked up a 66 1600 Roadster!

Post by sleep66 »

Hello gang,
My name is Chris Walkley from Virginia. I recently picked up a 1966 1600 Roadster. After looking for a two seater small sports car for a project, I came upon this 66 and fell in love at first site! I love the lines and the looks with the rollbar. The car is complete and has a few parts that are removed but are there. The car runs and moves but the tank was removed to be cleaned so it hasn't gotten its maiden voyage. The car has a hardtop in great shape and the interior isn't horrible. The body is in pretty good shape, a little bit of rust spots on the fenders and panels, nothing unrepairable and no rust in the structural areas. I know I will be relying on you guys so I appreciate your wisdom and advice!

On a side note, I also got this car because after I have it on the road and the bugs worked out, I want to do a SR20DET swap! I am crazy about those motors and to be honest I was originally inspired by a black roadster on Youtube a while back. That car has a SR20DET swap and it sounds so amazing. I also like the turbo aspect for efficiency over weight. The user name is alvingogli, is he on this board? If anybody knows of that car or the builder, I would love to talk with them about the project. I am not just a talker, I will get the SR20DET swap once I get the money but I want to look at what I am dealing with fabrication, parts, tricks of the trade and necessities I would need. Thanks! :D :D :D

Welcome to the forum Chris. The user you are referring to is a frequent poster to this roadster forum, so I am certain he will chime in soon.

Chris

Search the engine swap section, it have been covered many times and maybe you can try to contact Spriso, he has a great knowledge on this swap.
Good luck
