New Owner From MN as well

Post by curly2k3 »

Hey, my name is Chris. I was sent this way by a friend who had joined on here as well, Readymix... i recently bought the 69 project car off him and am acquiring more off him as he works on his build and needs space. I have been a Datsun fan boi for a long time, mainly, with the 240zs i will admit, however, i was always curious about and inspired by the BRE cars.

So, i bought a chassis, driveline (and more) and a 69 1600 that was cut in half by Jason... as of last weekend surgery began to "mend" the ol' champ and start building a car, that in my opinion, bears the soul and essence of the old BRE cars and Datsuns that tore apart the track.

A family friend that lives down the street from me has been overly involved in racing for about 35years or so, and until last year, he was involved in kicking the snot out of Vettes with his 240z, so i will be asking him an abundance of questions as i go about this all.

With that said, this is my attempt at getting away from my Subaru build and build something that will
1. stir my soul and get my heart into the drive of the car
2. entertain me and make me learn an older form of car again
3. work with, and hopefully stick with a carb build for once
4. have fun and eventually drive it hard, like it was intended to be

I was blessed, Jason needed room, and I was fortunate enough to have a car trailer and enough spare funds at my disposal to buy this and get it underway.

My plans are as follows, redo the body and make it look good again, paint it black and have silver graphics package like the old Datsun backed racers did. Freshen up the suspension and breaks and hopefully bring a little life into it. Then, when all is said and done with those, hopefully do some form of an engine build... not much, i just feel i will get bored of the lite power it has now is all....

thats the plan, thats me, and that is it all in a nutshell.
