UK welcome....with a slight difference...
Hello all,
Well, been looking on this site for a while now, getting my head round to roadster stuff (currently have 1978 260z), as my next project is more orientated here than S30. Why get my head into roadster thinking, well, as I have just imported a Nissan Silvia (CSP311) from Australia, into the UK. Picked up from the shippers yesterday. As a fair bit is roadster (e.g. chassis, engine and runnning gear) are the same, this is the most logical place to be...if that's alright with you folks
Cheers
Ian
I will try putting up a picture....hmm, that didn't look like that will work...help..

Panels look real straight on the right side.
RHD?
Was that the original color?
What all does it need?

As I recall the early Silvia had the R16 motor and SU carbs. There is certianly some experience with those around here.

Re: UK welcome....with a slight difference...
Wel,l thank you all for a warm welcome.
I think there was one or two Silvias that were white, as they have been used for Nissan's publiclty...but I could be wrong.
Michael, I am about 30 miles north of London (where I work).
I will put up some more pictures, but I better do some work (only have access here) shortly.
The Silvia has been stripped for about 20 years, and need a shed load of work, missing a few bits, and this is going to take sometime. Chassis has been worked on and repainted, so looks OK, but will look more closely at the weekend. My meighbour thinks I am mad for what I am taking on, I am, but being so rare (especially outside Japan) its worth it. You can gauge more when I put more pictures up.
Cheers for now
Ian

According to Phil Brooks book, they were available in the green metallic only for consumer use. The Silvia Patrols were blue and white.

What color is yours under the white?Mr Camouflage wrote:
And for the smoking gun, so to speak: A CSP311 in white. This car is in Nissans Heritage collection at Zama. These cars are non restored examples of Nissans historic vehicles. Some of these cars came straight off the production line and were used as show room cars.

I think Phil got it wrong.
The "smoking gun" photo leaves a lot to be desired. Here is the page on the 68 1600:
http://press.nissan-global.com/COMMON/H ... l.html?279
It has 1970 marker lights, no side trim and a wood steering wheel, and has been repainted. If the Silvia in the heritage collection proves they came in white from the factory, I guess it proves Roadsters came with no side trim and wooden steering wheels from the factory

(smilie duly noted) Are those tires in a metric size designation? Did the 68-70s come with radial tires? What's up with the luggage rack, on-crooked grill badge and window stickers?datsun1500 wrote:I guess it proves Roadsters came with no side trim and wooden steering wheels from the factory
(Bold added by me for emphasis.)Mr. Camouflage wrote:Some of these cars came straight off the production line and were used as show room cars.
"Some" ... not "All." Sure, the car in the picture looks nice, but is not necessarily actually representative of what came off the assembly line. I found this on the Nissan page: http://press.nissan-global.com/COMMON/I ... _sr311.jpg
It appears to be more of a representation of a 1968 2000 off the "assembly line."
Ian-
Congrats on having something "different." Please keep us posted on your progress with pictures. It's easy to get so caught up in working on the car that you forget to take "before" pictures, but if you do remember to do that, you'll be really glad you did. (As will we.)
