Aug 9th BBQ

Post by billport »

Iam going to host a roadster bbq on Aug 9th. It would be from 2pm to ? and bbq burgers around 4pm. I would appreciate a heads up by Aug 2nd as to how many to expect. We need to know how many cans of cheese whiz and soda crackers to go with the box wine for appetizers. Please feel free to bring a side dish if you like.(right or left side)
You can get directions under clubs, NOWROC, then click events.

Hi Bill, I'll take my Roadster well done  , I'm looking forward the BBQ and will have a car there. Plus I hope to see a Datsun Run set up for those who want to adventure out and see the Southern part of the Willamette Valley.

Hey Pete, it looks like it's going to be the BBQ this year, Blue Lake is going to have to wait until next year... Bill

For those who may be wondering (like myself), Shedd is about 80 miles south of Portland, just west of I-5 between Corvallis and Lebanon. Speaking of Lebanon...

Works for me...if I have the roadster on the road. My days got changed, so now I'm working Sundays. No Blue Lake for me either this year.

We decided to start the Fun Run out at Bill Neal's place, that way if some one brings a cooler or camping gear, they can be dropped off there and won't have to go along on the Fun Run.
We'll be leaving his place around 10:45 and traveling thru Lebanon across the Santiam River for a loop ending up at Waterloo Park, then again onto the back roads towards Foster Res. via Pleasant Valley and North River Rd. Once we end up on the south side of the res. we'll stop at the Point Rest Area, then take hwy 20 thru Sweet Home and turn towards Crawfordsville and then thru Brownsville to Washburn Heights for an elevated view of this end of the Valley. Then down the hill and to the BBQ which is only 3-4 miles away.

We will get some rough maps made for those who may get left behind, estimated time of the run will be around 2.5 hours covering at the most 80 miles.

Hi Michael, I talked to Jon Fox the other day, he is also going to be there, I did not know you guy's got to him   ...LOL... He sounds like a happy camper with his Sr20 engine. See you guys there... Bill

Thanks Bill & Karen....I had a wonderful time today, It was great getting to meet some of the people on the forum and getting the chance to see 10 roadsters parked on the lawn.

Even though the day started out raining it turned into topdown weather by the time the fun run started. We headed out with 5 roadsters and ended up with 7 roadsters and a dime by the time the drive made it back to the BBQ. We had 2 beautiful 66 sr20 cars, 1 recently done 67.5 sr20 car, my early 67 sr1600 car..LOL.., my brothers 68 1600, 2- 69 srl's with u20s, one solex powered and one hydrogen aided, and the 510 with an amazing VG30 stuffed into it.

At the BBQ there were a few more cars added to the fun, a stock Black w/red 66 1600, a custom Black 69 2000, Bill Neal's 68 Stroker, a restored black w/red 56 Alfa Voloce Spyder, and I beleive a MGBGT fast back, and a beautiful Silver 83 280zx.

I'll post some pics tomorrow, I have a few of the fun run, I beleive Tom has a bunch from the BBQ.

Thanks again for hosting the BBQ and we'll see more of you there next year... Bill
