well, i dont have a roadster yet... but i am planning to look at one this weekend...
there aren't many around my area (tulsa, ok), so i gotta just hope i can find a decent one at a decent price...
i currently have a 1968 Datsun P521 that i converted to L20b/5spd a couple years ago... it is gonna be getting a frame off restoration with a special theme... it might even be good enough to win an award at the all datsun meet in shasta in a few years...
anyway, just wanted to say hi...
my name is Chris Milligan and I have always loved the roadsters, 510s, and pickups
later,
Chris

Hey Chris! I am far from you (Los Angeles, CA), but wanna reply and say Welcome! and hope you find a Roadster soon. I have a 1968 1600 Roadster that i started restoring frame (actually, everything !) off at home. I am done with everything but the body. It has no rust or dents to fix, but scratches here and there that need to be taken care off before a paint job.
The friends in this forum are amazingly friendly, and very knowledgeable......and always willing to help you out when you get stuck or lost! You'll enjoy the whole Roadster experience in here.
Take care and let us know what happens with the Roadster Hunt!

Hey Chris-welcome and may your roadster hunt go well. I kind of like those 521 trucks too! I had a '71 but had to give it up due to too many other projects. It was my daily driver a few years back. It ran strong even with the 1600 in it. Those L series are tough little motors. Glad you joined us.

Pretty cool! What are you using Adobe Photoshop? The BRE style looks good.

Hi Chris,
I have a 69 521 as well, about the same condition as yours. For the engine though, I did a 2.4 bottom end from an 89 hardbody truck and fitted an L18SSS head with dual 45 Dellortos and an AutoX cam. It dynoed at 171 bhp, 162 ft/lbs at about 6500 rpm. I kept the stock rearend with a 240Z 4spd trans. I can light up the tires in all 4 gears. It's pretty cool.

Good luck in your quest for you Roadster.
Mark

i am gonna have to find a truck to get the driver fender and hood off of... since i dont want fiberglass...

my l20b and 5spd came from a 78 620... i have removed all the emissions stuff... and the alternator is on the driverside... i have access to an 87 z24 motor ... but i am planning to use it in my roadster project...
i will probly use a ported L-series head and dual carbs... with a 280z trany and rear in the roadster...
what was done to the head to produce 170hp... and is that at the wheels... sae corrected?
thanks,
Chris

the head was ported, polished. valves are from 280zx head. the guy who does my head work is a genius when it comes squeezing out HP's. and it was measured at the flywheel.
