Whats the correct point gap for a U20 distributor, I don't have it memorized, and I don't have a shop manual.

thanks,
Will

Will,

The R and U motors have the same point gap--0.018~0.022 inches.

Point gap

Thanks Steve, my car should run much better now. I should have torn my dizzy apart long ago, but I finally had to. I found that it had not been recurved, a spring was missing and the whole thing was full of gunk . It shouldn't ping anymore, and it should be a little less tempermental.

Will,

No problem. A distributor(dizzy) can cause you lots of headhaches.

headaches

Post by SLOroadster »

Tell me about creating a headache. I rebuilt mine today and kept having advance issues, like showing 54-80 degrees advance. After about 1.5 hours I finally figured out that it was the vacuum advance that was stuck. The issue has been taken care of. I'm running 18 degrees advance with the solexs in hope that it will quit pinging (I think due to oil burning I think). This way is less expensive than buying offroad use only octaine boost with every fill up (but wow does it like high octaine fuel).
