Dual brake master for Volvo upgrade

Why do you need to have a dual cylinder when installing the volvo brake kit. I have an early car with a single reservoir and my thought is that pressure is pressure in the line regardless of how many reservoirs you have. Can anybody clue me in, I must be missing something.

Alexi,

My thinking is the same and I am going to use them on the front of my next project which has the single brake master. I thought the dual master just provided a redundancy in the braking system in case of a failure. I figure the e-brake works well enough for that. I think it will work just fine.

A guy putting a Chevy V8 in his roadster used the Volvo conversion. He designed a manifold that gets rid of the two lines feeding the caliper and has a single lline to the calipers. I had a machinist friend make him and me a set up. Wish I had known about this block when the machinist was making them up. Does the Volvo conversion make the roadster stop any quicker? I thought that since the pads had about twice the contact area it would. I Should have my R16 and trans sold this week and plan on installing a sr20de (s14).

I have yet to do the conversion but everyone I have talked to that has-- says they do notice a difference. I saw the motor for sale on Ebay. It went pretty quick. SR20 seems to be a popular swap.

You don't happen to have an extra 1500 grill in good shape do you? I need one for my 66 (I love that 1500 grill, damn Petty's car) whether it needs to be rechromed or not.

Hey Steve and Alexi,

That manifold adapter is a good idea, sure looks a lot cleaner than all the hoses bouncing around!

If you guys want to see my car, we should go for a ride the first weekend the sun is out!
Alexi-You'll be able to see an SR in a roadster and ask all kinds of questions...Then you can fill in all of the blanks I left in my write up!

Alexi,

Sorry, I do not have a 1500 grill. I would love to have one myself. TR, that run in the sun sounds good. I actually have a club run scheduled for Saturday the 24th. We can go any time though. And yes that manifold for the Volvo brake conversion is definietly a clean looking install.

Is the manifold supposed to made of solid brass???
