Motoring J Sytle Show

David Swig, the organizer of the Motoring J Style Show, has asked me to get the word out to the Datsun crowd about his upcoming show in May. It will be held at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo, CA on Saturday May 24th. They are expecting over 400 Japansese Classics and it sure would be nice to have a bunch of Roasters to show up and add some CLASS to the show. I hope to attend and see some of my old Roadster friends.
Registration show info can be found at http://www.motoringjstyle.com/entry.html
We are trying to get as many of the original BRE Team members to attend the show. So far we ONLY have Pete Brock, John Morton and the REAL BRE 510. Not a bad start, huh? Check out Pete's write-up below to get an idea of what is planned.
An excerpt from Peter Brock's BRE Newsletter dated Feb 27:
Plan now for Motoring J Style, Vallejo CA May 24th
We're excited to announce our participation at this year's Motoring J Style event. In a special presentation, Peter will describe the events and stories of the early history of Japanese racing in America. Peter's role started quietly enough in a Hino Contessa 900 in Cal Club racing events, to the sensation created in Japan when headlines declared that a Hino Contessa 1300,with Peter driving, was the winner of the Riverside Grand Prix (a slight over-exageration by the Japanese media which made Peter an instant hero in Japan), to the stunning BRE Hino Samurai he unveiled at the Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji Speedway with Japanese movie start Toshiro Mifune acting as BRE's honorary team manager, to the Championship winning BRE Datsuns.
Peter will go thru it all with extensive photos from our archives. It'll be quite a treat.
There will also be autograph sessions and we'll have a space in the vendor area where we hope to unveil Peter's latest project, code-named "Datzilla". A stock "looking" 510 on the outside that breaths fire on the inside with a fuel-injected Corvette ZZ3 engine with 550hp and everything from inside the grill to inside the trunk customized with the goal of contemporary "giant killer" in mind.
Need we say more? Make plans now to attend this great show. More show details can be found at: www.motoringjstyle.com.
See ya there,
Dennis
