Just trailered home '65 SPL310. The previous owner was a VW man and didn't have time to work with it. Drove it on the trailer! The clutch is not working. Paint looks like it was done at a high school body shop. Most of the rubber is dried out. Seats shot, all canvas shot. Wiring has been "Enhanced" (Shot). The alt gage is a lucas. Floor board rust, wrong rear bumper. And other missing things.
On the good side, 195psi dry test compression on all cylinders. Tranny shifts. And my wife likes the car. I was still deciding to invest time into it while clearing the junk out of the car when it told me that I should.
I found a some woman's panties stuffed behind the passenger seat.
Good find in the South! Yes, it is worth putting time and money into this little Roadster.
Hey, you are in SEROC (South Eastern Roadsters Owners Club) country. Check the club sites and sign up. The fees are pretty steep - free. Also, we have a wonderful meet at Road Atlanta for the spring Mitty every year. Great place to meet Roadater nuts and have a great racing weekend. If you need parts many bring in some for sale/trade - just let us know.
Welcome to the site and Roadsters! Careful, Roadsterits does not wash off.....
Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have quite a project ahead of you. You are off to a good start since your wife likes the car. As many before you have discovered the fruits of your labor and expenditure of copious amounts of greenbacks will put a smile on your face. Good luck with your project. Do you have any pictures.?

I haven't had any pictures of my own yet. I really should post some....in the spare time. Today has been so nice here that I pressure washed the engine and area. It's surprising how much is still salvageable so far. And after the clutch fix, I'll have to decide what my goals are with this. Last night I did a dry compression test. 195psi on all cylinders. So no point on a engine tear down.
Thanks for all the comments

I'm hanging back from any clubs for now. My misses had a issue with a morris minor club in the UK and she was living there. (Bad deal all around.) I'll get back to that issue later when I get more of a operating vehicle.
And just what mal-adjusted sadistic person came up this Fairlady top design? I've owned a '71 MG midget, '62 Lincoln Continental, '69 Buick LeSaber. But I have never seen a top mechanism like this '65 Fairlady.
Hey, SEROC has a money back guarantee on our dues!!
The top should not be too different from your midget - unless... Does your car have a 3rd seat in the back? Is the top like an erector set? If so, your car could really be a 64 in disguise. If that is the case, it is similar to the contemporary MGB...

My wife spent several hours reading about the 1965 Fairlady. From what she was telling me, I have a cross-over car. Positive ground, top like and erector set, NO Third seat, 7 instrument cluster. 4 switches (One missing)
The ID Plate has
TYPE SPL310
YEAR 1965
CAR NO. SXXXXX-10988 <-The X were rubbed off.
But I haven't owned this for a week yet!
So I'm logged here, downloading the wealth of experience from the wonderful 311s.org members!

WOW Thanks, that picture is worth a lot to me. Shows that I still have the correct wing mirror, rear lights. And not correct bumper, fuel cap, and other items I don't need to have issues over now. I'm missing the padding over the dash. I have the tie downs for the cover, but I was wondering what it looked like.

Nissanman - I'm honored to here from you! Your the reason I decided to go for it and buy this car. I've owned a British car before (Had piston slap 3 out of 4 cylinders and only one complete rings from all of them) I moved up to American behemoth cars when I could push a button and the top when down and electric seats. Been 20 years since in got into a "sports car". But if a Auzzy can fit into a Fairlady, then my 6'1" butt can squeeze into one as well.
Seriously, I have been following your build and I'm really impressed.
Only the subjects of the Queen would drive on the right
What's fun was watching my wife when she first started driving here in the States. She kept rolling down the window when trying to shift gears. But she gets me back by having me drive in the UK. Stupid little French diesels, never can get into 2nd down shifting when coming to a round-a-bout.

Welcome to the asylum ...Best of luck with your new obsession...keep your eyes out for the matching bra...
....I had a hard enough time crossing the streets in London, everyone was driving from the wrong direction ...I could not drive there...no..no...no...too confusing...I did however get a speeding ticket in Eastern Europe...paid cash on the spot, luckily my girlfriend spoke the language and could barter for me...took the ticket home and framed it. since the Soviets left...most the highways were newly paved...not good for a person with a lead foot and fast Volvo rental car
