A CD with technical info for the roadster has been selling on eBay for a while. I bought the CD but was disappointed. It turns out that most of the contents has been downloaded from the wiki tech section here at 311s.org. The seller didn't even bother to rename the files. I have listed the files found on the CD below. They are exactly the same as the one you can download from here:

Incredible. I guess they won't mind us using their model guides on 311s.org. This one belongs in the hall of shame as this is not an ethical way to make money.

The three model guide pictures come from a book by Michael F. Hollander titled The Complete Datsun Guide. Complete until 1980 anyway. I knew I had seen those pictures before but the 3-ring binder holes threw me off.

As for this little jewel: Datsun Roadster Race Prep Manual.pdf . It is not on 311s even though I have a print version of it. It is a link back to Datsun.org where Greg has the PDF and the following:

Special thanks go to Bob Sharp who has graciously granted permission to reprint the manual for the goodwill of the Datsun Roadster community.

This electronic version of the Datsun Competition Preparation Manual is ©2000, DATSUN.ORG. It is not to be redistributed via the Internet, CD-ROM, or other electronic means without the prior written permission of DATSUN.ORG.

Well, at least I know someone is keeping up with the 311s Tech Library.

Thanks Lars for the listing.

Unless I am mistaken, they are also in the front of the Nissan parts books for the 1600 and 2000s...

I must be missing that page from the parts book. Thanks for clearing that up. At least I know which Nissan books Mr. Hollanders information was originally in.

It is a neat little book, The Complete Datsun Guide. It is a shame all the photos are black and white.

Those pages and other Datsuns are posted on Dave Lumm's website:

http://www.datsuns.com

...and click the Model Information link. Site only works properly with Internet Explorer.

FWIW, Dave owns Red, a '71 2-door 510 with a twin-turboed 3.0L V6. Quite the little beastie...and a daily driver.

Actually the DATSUN MODEL GUIDE pages shown in this message string are not from the Datsun 311 Roadster parts books that have 7 holes in each page although the original binders only use three of the holes.

The DATSUN MODEL GUIDE is a genuine Nissan/Datsun publication section from a Quick Reference Guide that was intended for parts people to use in addition to the regular parts books. The guide has 19 tabbed sections that list parts for many models by part type and application and a section on Nissan standard parts such as nuts, bolts, studs, clamps and cotter pins etc.

Section 19 is the DATSUN MODEL GUIDE for vehicles not in production. The copy of the publication referred to was revised November 1977. Vehicles that have pages are: starting with Model L-210u and ending with Model WHL710 that was produced through the 1977 model year. Included are SPL212, SPL213, SPL310, SPL311, SRL311 and 240/260Z cars. The information was printed on heavy paper or cardstock.

I received a set of model guides from Nissan Motor Corporation in U.S.A. and permission to use them in my book. Unfortunately, a fire at the publisher destroyed all the originals used in The Complete Datsun Guide. Fortunately, I still have some good connections, and much more material than was used in the book.

In 1979, when I wrote the book, black and white publishing was the norm. I tried to get them to include a color photo section, but they decided not to do it. That said, I have plenty of color art.

My brother-in-law is a great roadster enthusiast and is assisting in scanning in much of the older material that did NOT appear in the book, along with the things for which we have duplicates.

May you all enjoy your roadsters.
