2nd weekend with a little hitch

Well the car made it the first weekend after the rebuild with not much problems. There were a few minor issues that I fixed at the track. The second weekend was a little different. The autocross course had a big dip in the middle. I think I bottomed out and hit the oil filter on the ground. It didn't cause a problem till the next run. The remote filter mount pulled loose from the firewall and started dragging the filter along by the braided hose under the car. It rubbed a hole in the filter and I promptly lost 5 quarts in about two seconds. There was a 12" wide stripe of oil behind the car for about 100 yards. It shut down the event for over an hour. Luckily it was still spewing out oul when I shut it off. With a new filter and more oil everything worked just fine. I don't think there was any real damage except to my prode. I ended up getting third place behind a well built and driven E36 BMW M3 with a LS Corvette motor. The car still handles quite badly. It still has a bad fuel starvation problem. When I was able to get full throttle itreally gets up and goes. I'm ordering some more parts to get a better angle on the top link of the three link. Hopefully I can get it to hook up a little better. I am also going to pack the posi a little tighter. I should have another video and some photos fairly soon. Andy,
You might want to try a surge tank and a two fuel pumps. The surge tank helps get rid of the air that is picked up from the tank.

You pump the fuel from the tank to the surge tank. The fuel is gravity feed to the high pressure pump or the high pressure pump can be mounted inside the surge tank. The tank also needs a return line to the main tank and usually an inlet for the return from the fuel pressure regulato, but that is not necassary.

Most tanks is have seen are made of a piece of 6"-8" tubing mounted vertically and hold about 1-2 liters.

I started out with the surge tank but was having problems. I think the volume of the tank was too small or the pump was too small. The car ran lean all the time. I removed the surge tank and pulled directly from the main tank. Now it runs really well some times but leans out and stumbles in right hand corners. The pickup is on the right hand corner of the tank so I'm pretty sure it is sloshing. I have a bunch of foam in the tank but it still sloshes. The pickup is on the front side of the tank so it sloshes away under acceleration also. I may try a batwing type pickup which is a weight on a flexible hose. The weight makes the hose follow the gas as it sloshes. I may also try an accumulator of some sort.
