Threaded hole on block....unknown!

Hello fellow Roadster freaks! I am about to mount my finished rebuilt engine on the chassis, and there's a threaded hole behind the right-side engine mount bracket that I have no idea what it's for! The oil gauge and distributor oil lines are on the other side of the engine, so I have no clue what this one is for. There is actually little room around there to screw something to the block, and I can't find any engine block diagrams that show it........with an e-mail address I can send pics.Thanks!

That hole gets a plug. If you look at it, the hole for the distributor oil feed line and the oil pressure flex hose (or sending unit) line up with the rear and center main caps. That hole lines up with the front cap. The holes are so that the engine could be drilled with the feed to the mains when the block was being manufactured, and Nissan just used two of the holes. The third just got a plug. No drama for it...

Sid's right...
Just go to Home Depot and get a brass plug for it. Make sure you put some sealant on the plug so it won't leak. Also the new sniny brass plug add a little extra bling bling.
That hole can be used later for tertiary lubrication (e.g. turbo charger or something like that).

First of all, thanks for the replies. I know which hole you are refering to, and that one is actually plugged with a brass screw. The one...actually the ones because there are two, are on the opposite side of the engine, right under the other engine mount bracket and the manifold curves. They seem to be for some kind of bracket, because they have the same flat surface as the block's mount brackets. And they are not accessible once the manifold is in place.........??????????????

OK, I must have misread. If these are threaded, then they are likely mounting bosses for a different type of motor mount. The basic block design was used in several chassis - some had different mountings. I cannot visualize the holes here, but that is my shot at it. Let me know if I am out to lunch on this one...

Ditto, here. Sorry. Sid is correct.
For example the cast iron U20 short block originally came from a forklift engine. The motor that is in the 2000 Roadster was modified from that forklift.
