su choke/idle mixture mechanism

Post by Milo »

I just braught home spl311-11864 a 67.5 1600 that's been sitting for 26 years. Still fresheing up the motor to see if she'll still tick. One thing I've noticed which bothers me is that there isn't any play at all in the nozzels for the choke/ idle mixture adjustment. I've dissassembled and reassembled the front carb and the problem persists. Not that I'm even ready to try and start the thing or could if I were since I've got no power either, but it really seems as though those nozzels have to have some play in them for any adjustment to be possible. Am I wrong here? How much play should there be?
Anyway the car's a real bucket of bolts, but all the bolts are there this is just going to take awhile. I'm probably not going to do a body off on the car but I'll go as far as I need to. It's really in pretty good shape for a convertable that's been sitting since the carter administration.
Thanks for the help and I'm looking forward to get to know you all.
