First race of the Season.

After 9 months of putting my car back together, I got to race it. The class was super tough, 14 cars. The autoX was a different format, you get 3 laps, and the last two are timed (so you have a flying start). The car made great power, but it was more than I could use. Had this been a drift event, I would have put on a fair show, but since this was against the clock, I spent too much time sideways and not enough going forward. I finished mid field, but I think I had the fastest time on street tires.
I was then reminded that Murphy has been living in the car for the last 9 months, and as a present for my positive showing, he gave me a neutral 5th gear on my way home (that would be the 3rd one)

. So back into the garage it goes. Back to the drawing board

. Hmmm at the rate I'm going, I think late July should be about right for its return.

Sounds like you still had fun regardless of where you finished. Too bad about your tranny. Mr. Murphy must be shadowing you.

It was fun, but now I can't go play again until I get the thing rebuilt. Just when I thought I was good to go for the season. Next on the list of things for upgrade were the tires. A set of Kuhmo V710s were looking pretty good. Or not. Perhaps it was just the check ball shearing and allowing the lock nuts to walk. I'll find out when I pull everything apart. Talk about a short comeback. 54 sec, not much of pay a pay off for 9 months of waiting.

Use the Alfa. There's no excuse for loss of track time.

Good point. I just need to find a set of alloy wheels that fit (most don't unless I swap the rear end out and all the front studs to later ones.) Oh yeah a good set of tires, and rear springs. Darn that ate the transmission rebuild fund. I'd be all over it but the steel wheels flex like crazy and have been known to have the centers fail, and the tires are junk. I think I might be able to have it back up and running by July, but I won't hold my breath.
