SR20DE Fluids- Complete

For the guys out there running the SR20DE, what weight of oil are you running and how many quarts?
About time to try and start the engine, but would like to have all new fluids first. Do not know the amount it holds secondary to not having the original dip stick.
Second, does it matter which kind of coolant I use?

The S13 SR20DE takes 3.5 quarts of oil. Use an oil filter from a 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R.
I use 5W-30 weight oil in all of my SR powered cars.
I would recommend using straight water until the car is running well, and then replace with 50/50 anti-freeze-- it does not matter which brand.
The reason for straight water is if you have a leak somewhere, it will be much easier to weld it back up if you don't have to deal with anti-freeze on the parts...

Don't forget to crank it over with the fuel pump off and the sparkplugs disconnected until you build oil pressure. Then hook the fuel and spark back up and fire her off!

This is very good, and very important advice! Be 100% sure that you have oil pressure before starting the engine. Also, pull the fuse to the fuel pump so you don't wash down your cylinders with gasoline before firing the engine off for the first time.

One more thing...It can take a looooooong time for oil pressure to build. Take your spark plugs out so that your engine spins over more freely. Easier on your starter that way. It took 3, maybe 4, twenty second cranking sessions (and a call to Michael/Spriso in the middle for re-assurance
) before I saw oil pressure the first time. Don't crank for more than 30 seconds at a time. Let your starter cool for a few minutes in-between tries.

Forgot to ask in the original Post:
What Type and how much ATF to use with the SR?
Summary:
Oil- 5W30 3.5 quarts
Oil Filter- 1992 Nissan Sentra SE-R
Gear Oil- Redline Shockproof
Coolant- 50/50 any Kind
ATF- ?

Hi John,
I assume that when you ask ATF you don't mean Automatic Transmission Fluid? I think you are asking for gear oil.
If that is the case, the manual transmission oil is API GL-4, and it takes 2.4 liters.
I would
highly recommend downloading the Nissan S14 SR20DET workshop manual off of the many sites on the web that have it. It is a ~25mb .pdf file, but well worth the wait.
This is for a S14 version (no S13 SR manuals exist), but 95% of it is good, useful information, here is a link:

Thanks Michael that is exactly what I was looking for...I was being lazy instead of typing transmission fluid
The link is a great resource. I had been looking for something like that. I will let you all know once it is up and running, but it might be a little while they shipped me off for work for 6 weeks.
