Hi folks,
I'm restoring a 1965 Datsun Fairlady Sports to as near original as I possibly can.
Learning all the time about these quaint little cars.
Many thanks to this and other forums who have been a great help to me in providing parts and knowledge.
I hope to be able to contribute to this forum as time goes by.

My restoration progress is available for viewing at my Shutterfly site, listed in my signature.

Welcome and very nice pictorial of all the effort you have put into the 1500 so far. I admire your metal working skills replacing all of the metal cancer with your fabricated patch panels. Looking good.

Hi Mark, I thought eventually the actual owner would say something
It looked the goods, right colour, right trim, nice car!
Fortunately, as a result of eBay, eMail and such I have gathered just about everything I need.
I have an order pending with one of the U.S vendors which will hopefully supply all the parts for the heater installation.
Buying bits from the States has been interesting since we drive on the CORRECT side of the road and you guys drive on the RIGHT side of the road
Plus the exchange rate is not all that flash!

Thanks for your offer, I will certainly keep you in mind 8)

Those of us on the Roadster Mailing List have been enjoying Graeme's restoration story for a year or two.

Well, it wasn't hard. Not too many folks from Oz restoring a green 1500 and documenting it on Imagestation. :)

Awesome work, and at least you're making progress. I purchased mine in Aug 2004, drove it only a handful of times before putting it up on jackstands to do the brakes in early 2006 -- and there it sits.

Of course, remodeling and losing my job kinda interfere w/ buying car parts. :?

Excellent Job on the car! It just proves you can make anything if you put your mind to it.

I tip my hat to you. You have EXCELLENT fabrication skills.

Thank you folks for your words of encouragement :) :)
I guess I owe a lot of my skill base to an older bro. who was an auto mechanic, 34 years as a Technical Specialist in Ozs' largest telecommunications company and lots of reading of tech. literature.
Kids nowadays never even lift up a file let alone know how to use one
Bottom line is usually: -
" I can do that", so I give it a go.
Or, "I'm not paying someone else to do that!"
Some things end up pear shaped but, generally, it all comes together OK.
There are times when I just wish that Murphy would go and pester someone else and leave me alone!
For those unaware, Murphy is the author of Murphys' Law, a very large list of cataclysmic, disasterous and general rooster ups that are going to happen to the job at hand..
"If it can go wrong, it will" :x :x
Anyhoo, now I have the metal plating kit operating, I can get back to finishing all those fiddly little plating jobs that I have been so reluctant to send out to a Shop [Murphy made sure my last batch was mixed up with at least two other jobs     ]

Hi Graeme,

I too am from your neck of the woods - Adelaide, SA. What you have done is fantastic - congrats!
My project is not really happening at the moment but I also don't think its quite as bad a starting point as you.
It would be great to see you out on the roads sometime soon? Which part of Adelaide you in? I'm in Prospect but my roadster is in my parents garage at present...

Well done.

Hi Stuart, I'm at Morphett Vale.
Unfortunately I won't be driving the Roadster in June for the Roadster Nationals in our Barossa Valley :(
We will be in the "shopping trolley" our R33 Skyline GTSt 8)
We are going to attend but as commuters, house full of pets prohibits us from staying up there which was the original plan.
I trust you will be attending?
Is your Roadster on the road or pending renovation?
Thanks for your comments, I am itching to get the thing completed
