Solo 2 classification?

I used to run my Miata in CSP with the SFR SCCA. I've always had a hard time figuring out which class to run in.

I'm trying to figure out the correct class for my '69 2000. Looks like a bone-stock 2000 would be in ES. I have Solex carbs, Boone dizzy and 5.5 inch wide z-car wheels with Yokohama AVS ES100's. Would that put me in CSP?

I don't understand Street Tire or Street Touring. I really just want to try out the roadster on a course!

Anyone from the Oregon Region SCCA (Portland) here? There's an auto-x on March 25.

Thanks!

I've justed started pestering Gordon w/ similar questions, so he sent me the WWSSC 2005 rulebook.

Interesting that brakes are barely mentioned and nothing specific about drums/calipers/shoes/pads/discs. Guess it don't matter what you use to stop safely. 8)

Look forward to what you find out. See ya at Canby, yeah?

roadsters (all models) are placed in CSP according to the 2007 SCCA Solo rule book. This means that any stock parts can be swapped between roadster models, motors, tranny, rear end, etc.

I used to run my 69 2000 in CSP for several years and could be competitive locally unless a well prepared CSP car showed up with modern suspension and go fast parts.

Have swutched to running shifter karts the last several years,
cheapest way to go really fast!

CSP is the correct class for the roadster. Its mainly dominated by Miatas, however the roadster will do pretty well regardless. Last fall I was able to run VSP or vintage street prep. Its a tough class as you end up with vintage vetts, cameros, Zs, and about anything else that is 25 years old or older in it. R compounds are legal as well. Its almost a vintage open street prep, however you have to have the correct engine type (in other words no modern engines), in the case of the roadster, they don't care if a U20 is found in an SPL frame, its one of the correct engines for a roadster, therefor its legal. I think a full race 2 liter roadster falls in EP. The VSP winner generially had one of the TTODs. Of the 2 races I got to run, I ended up 4th and 5th in class with a very worn out set of tires. (I spent a lot of time backwards :smt104 ) Hopefully I will get my act together and finish getting the car sorted :smt064 and ready to race.
