Hi All,
Got the 68 2000 back from California yesterday. Took the engine apart today. Pulled the head and found the #2 piston FUBAR. It looks like the shop that re-built the engine 1800 miles ago mess it up.
The head is 4.490 in height. (been shaved a bit) Dist is a 17.5 degree advance unit and the timing on the dist base plate was cranked over.
The pistons are .40 over and I have a aluminium lip at the top of the cylinder bore. The head I think could be fixed but as it is so shaved already which way do I go?
Would like to keep the car a U-20 not all that excited about a swap.
Thanks
Phil

An aluminum lip? You mean that the engine was depositing aluminum in the cylinder? Got pics?

Pics tomorrow
Yep,
aluminium deposited right on the lip of the cyl bore. I'll post some pics tomorrow. I talked to my buddy in town tonite. He has a U-20 I may be able to buy. It has a broken chain but the head is stock no shaving. I may just re-build it.
Should know tomorrow. Ordered a repair manual from Mike Young today.
