I just got back from Peru where this '74 4-door Datsun in Cuzco

I saw lots of 70s/80s Japanese cars, like this Corona and an AE86.

Most of the taxis were little mini wagons made by DaeWoo. They have 98 octane there, though the quality isn't very good, and I gotta say, I'm thankful we have smog laws. Many buses and taxis there would be considered gross polluters here.

Datsun had a plant in Peru that is the reason you still see Datsuns there.

Interesting. I didn't see a single Datsun or Nissan in Argentina. Tons of Peugeots, old Fiats, Ford Falcons and Chevy Novas, though.

I was in Costa Rica and saw a good amount of Datsuns. There were no roadsters, but many sedan style cars. There was even a Nissan dealership that still had some Datsun logos on it. More recently, I was in Mexico and saw a few Datsuns on the street. I guess they're still somewhat common that region of the world...
