Hey guys,

This week I'll be heading to Hallett Racing Circuit

it will be my first race after the summer break, things around here have been very busy replaced my 3.9 rearend with a 4.38 locked rearend from Malcolm Garrett racing engines. Also recammed the motor and did some head work. Added some suspension refinements with comp springs front and rear. Other additions include lightweight alum flywheel and comp clutch and pressure plate.

I hope to be a little more competitive, but haven't done too bad so far right now in my vintage f prod I'm 10 out of 32 even having missed one race.

Going up a couple of days early to get a little practice in and do some fine tuning. Qualifying will be on friday with the races on sat and sun, hope everyone will keep their fingers crossed for me.

Looks like a fun track. How did the dyno on the car turn out? Good luck at the track and kick some -ss.

Didn't have to dyno..may be a blessing I don't know other than fine tuning dynos to me seem a waste of engine time. The candle that burns brightest burns the shortest.

Anyway I'll keep ya posted.

Man was Hallett fun! started 21st out of (yes count them) 44 cars. My qualifying time was 1:40 on a 1.8 mile course. The little car was really competitive and some of the cars that had given me fits before were no match finished with a lap time of 1:38.

I found out that you can run su carbs with just the caps on them ...sans plugers after I lost one on Saturday. I finished 14th overall and feel the car was good for maybe a couple of more positions. This however was my final weekend with my novice X on the back and I decided no bumper cars for me.

The last thing I'm gonna have to do is find another gearbox the stock 4 speed is killing me any suggestions will be greatly appreciated or anything you may have that isn't quite what you need for scca will be plenty for mr in Vintage comp. So used trannys or suggestions would be appreciated.

Off to do The John Foster West Texas Open Road Race the 19th of this month and then to Texas World Speedway Oct 30 through Nov 1

Sounds like the car is running darn good. Nice finishes for the old roadster. I can see the big -hit eating grin on your face from way out here on the left coast. I am running a 4 speed in my race car and plan on putting my freshly rebuilt 5 speed in for next year. The ultra close is touted as being the best. They are hard to come by and pretty pricy to boot. I think that extra gear will be a bonus on the straights. I also have a lightened all-be-it stock 1600 flywheel I plan on putting in. I cannot wait until next year to get some real track time in. This year was a total bust for racing for me but you are stoking me up for next year. Keep having way too much fun! I love reading about it.
