Low Windshield wiper arms

Post by dat2liter »

I tried a search and really found no answer to My question so figured I would post it here. Does anyone know if the wiper arms are all the same for the low windshield, I mean the measurments I know that the 67.5 had the flat finish but otherwise are they the same. I would think so but hope someone knows for sure.

The length is the same, and the finish is different as you have identified. There were a few variations. I have in my garage a set of arms that came off of a 67.5, but have the same dimensions as the earlier arms. The variations are in the width of the end, the number of assembly rivets, the type of spring, etc. They are functionally interchangeable as long as the blades match the arms.

Thanks for the info and I have also looked on rallye and read a bit there as well. Was just wondering as I am watching a set on ebay and the guy knows from early but not the exact year. Seems they all will fit just a matter of them being dull or shiny, and I guess that can be taken care of.

Since your car is a VERY early 67.5, it may have been delivered with the goofy arms that I have. They don't exactly match the description of any of them. Physically, they are built like the 65 - 67 1600 arms, but they have the dull gray finish of the 67.5 cars. A 67.5 enthusiast tried to tell me that they could not be from a 67.5 - but this was a VERY early 67.5 1600 that they came off of. In fact, the car still had the smaller flares of the earlier cars.

If you want to see the ones I have, I will try to dig them up.

That would be great if not to much trouble. And I think that this car has some strange stuff as well. Like My fenders seem to have the bigger flare based on what I saw on a 67 1600 a few weeks back at a swap meet, and the wiper spray noozles look like a 68 only dull. Thinking Datsun pretty much used whatever was on hand at the time back then.

Don, your car being so early production, almost pre-production, it may well have been a "get it out the door" assembly thing to get it shipped on time.

Maybe all I know is it's going to be alot of fun trying to get it back together. Just glad I have most all the parts so even if I have to replace something I have the old to try and match up with. Pretty much just missing one wiper arm, a gas tank and radio.

I will try to find them in the muck.

If you go by the officially produced info, the washer nozzles are unique, but the fender flares should be like the later cars. I think that Nissan may have produced the early 67.5 1600s with more left over parts than the 2000s. The official info is that the 67.5s should all have the bigger flares but I have seen some 1600s with the smaller flares. My 67.5 had the chrome knob on the ash tray while a lot of others had the black plastic one. Who knows with Nissan...

You may have to keep after me on the wipers due to the season and my lack of focus. Send me a wish list and I will see what I have out there that you can use.

Ty Sid and no worries if it's to much trouble I do have one arm without the blade holder so can check that one as well. As for the wish list other than a gas tank (which I had bought on ebay and never received) the wipers and a radio I think I have a complete car here. Just now tearing it down so will find out what can be rebuilt (desired) and what has to be replaced in time.
