Hi ! I am considering purchasing some wide whitewall tires for my 1968 Datsun SPL 311 1600 Roadster and would appreciate any imput pro or con about doing this ? What size should fit ? What Manufactures make decent quality tires at a reasonable price ? I have even considered portawalls but believe I would need to add tubes to my current tires to make them last for any length of time ?
I'm always impressed with all the imput received from the posts on this site and enjoy reading them on a daily basis !
If I can figure out how to post a picture on this site of my car I will do so soon ! Hope I have entered this in the right forum ?
THANKS DON !!

Here is a brief write-up I did from when I put wide whites on my 64 SPL310.

http://www.311s.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3134

I currently have wide white walls on all three of my roadsters! On Each car I used a different type.

1960 Fairlady uses 175/70/14 radials with portawalls.

1964 Fairlady uses 5.60 x13 Bias Tires (2 1/4 inch White Walls)

1966 Datsun 1600 uses 175/70/14 Radial custom Made Wide White Walls

Now depending on the width of white wall you want, you can find some deals. If you want a 1.5 inch, you can pick-up a set of lowrider radials with cut/buffed whitewalls for about $230 for a set of 4 14inch tires.

However, I think you are probably looking for something a bit more authenitc (closer to 2-2.25 inch WW). If so, goto:

They have both Radial and original bias tires available. I'm running the firestones on my 1964, and they are fantastic. The white walls clean very easily and look outstanding.

Let me know a little more of what you are looing for....
