Looking for Roadster friends in Los Angeles

This is probably a futile and rude request but...

I bought a 1970 1600. I don't even drive yet. A friend was selling the car, and I wanted it to go to a good home... mine. So now I have it, registered, insured, and of course it decided to stop running.

I have no idea how to work on this car. Or any other car. I would gladly like to learn. Is there anyone out there willing to teach me? In trade, of course, for my help working with them on whatever they're working on. It would have been nice if my father had taught me how to work on cars, but he never learned himself. So, that's my request.

I live in Van Nuys, in the SFV. I'm 28 and English and good learner. What do you say?

hey lalanda,
i'm in Santa Monica. I could possibly have a look, but it
wouldnt be soon. I'm busy every weekend until next month.
I guess if you're not driving yet, its not a big issue, right??!

Was the car running smooth when you bought it?
How long ago was this?

Hi, thanks for responding.

The car was running fine before it died. I figure I may have fused the ammeter. Either way, I'm sending it to a Datsun garage today to get it fixed.

But I would love to learn how to work on this car. As I say, I know nothing about cars. Is it possible that I could help you work on your car in exchange for some instruction as we go along? I'm in Santa Monica quite a bit.

hey Lalanda

being located in Van Nuys, I would talk to Dean at Fairlady Products, who may be able to help yo with some of your problems, Also next door to Dean is Ed Johnson with Classic Datsun Service. Between the 2 of them they can get your car going.

Dean - www.datsunparts.com
Ed - http://home.socal.rr.com/classicdatsuns/

Good Luck!!

hi all... I just joined this club and would like to get together to work on cars someday. I dont know much about Roadster as I am only 21 and been having it for close to 1 year. I have been restoring it and used to ran nice, but lately she has problem somewhere in the carburetion or firing, not sure... diesels after I turn it off, that kinda got me worried.

Well, if somebody can help me or maybe teach me or all of us get together and help each other that'll be great. A small car meet consists of maybe 5 Roadster owner of Southern Cali will be nice dont you think?... [:)]

My email address is hkartolo@csulb.edu
