Roadster Ranch 2000 carbs waiting list?

Post by keith0alan »

Hello all,

I try hard to keep track of my waiting list, but, paperwork not being one of my strong points it gets away from me some times. Could anyone out there still waiting for 2000 carbs please contact me? I've got one set done and another a week or two out.

Afraid not. When I went in the Air Force I took the standard battery of five aptitude tests. Scored 95+ on four of them. The one you needed to do good on to be an admin clerk I got 55 on. So, I could have been a nuclear bomb tech but not a clerk typist. I ended up being a computer programmer. Still can't type worth a darn.

Cheers

Drink enough Dr Pepper, you can shave a few seconds off your lap times just on the caffeine.

Hello Rusell,

I haven't forgotten you. One of the things I picked up on the big road trip was an old lawn tractor for the local glider club to use to tow planes around the field. They kept burning up their electric golf cart. The "repair and get running" turned into a frame off restoration. They call it the rust belt for a reason. Here are some before and after pics. It's done now and gets delivered this weekend. If you look close, yes, those are dual exhaust side pipes, yes they work, and, yes it is a single cylinder engine.

Hey, Keith, you need to add http:// just before the word MEMBERS to make those links work without cutting and pasting. 8)

Nice tractor, I would have gone for the P-40 shark teeth myself....
Where do you put the fuzzy dice?

I'm not nearly artistic enough for P-40 teeth. Unfortunatley there is no place to hang dice from. A rear view mirror would be handy. It does have an 8 ball shifter, not sure how it got missed in the pictures. Looks like it should go about 100, but, 10 is about the top end. Half throttle in second (of three) gear is about a walking pace. Perfect for towing a glider. It gets delivered tomorrow and I'm sure we'll drag planes all over the field to see how it works.

A mirror might be nice if you are towing. You could put a loop up in front of the the seat and put a yellow, or whatever color needed, strobe up there for visibility. this would also facilitate a mirror or two for safety, and a place for dice. That or a "roll bar" behind the seat, little roof over the seat for shade/strobe/mirrors/dice. Add a sunroof to it just for laughs.

The golf cart has two big orange and white checkerd flags as per FAA requirements. The tractor might get them also.

Ok. Plz educate me. What's special about roadster ranch carbs? Are these like the Z-therapy rebuilds or what? what's the deal w/the manifold? Thx!

Here's what I do to them,

Carbs and manifold are totally dissassembled and cleaned.

The steel parts are bead blasted and re yellow zinc plated

The aluminum is bead blasted

Throttle shafts are turned down a few thousanths to make them round again and oilite bushings are instlled in the bodies.

The inside of the manifold is smoothed to remove casting lumps and bumps. New freeze plugs are installed.

Heat shield is repaired and replated. (almost all have stress cracks)

They are reassembled with new nozzles, needles, floats, float valves, rubber fuel line, gaskets. The nozzle to float bowl line I use is the correct stuff that will last for many years.

I try to make them as good or better than new. Also, I am available for however much after the sale service as it takes to get them sorted out.

This is a hobby for me, so, I only get about a dozen sets a year done.

I can either redo yours or exchange for a set of mine. Also I can do "special" set ups like 2L carbs on 1600 manifolds or carbs with improved flow.
