Fuel Pressure?

Post by exit64 »

I am still wrestling with the carbs on my 1970 1600. Since changing the floats and needle valves and seats I have not been able to get it not to overflow. Tonight I set the levers at 5/8th" from the top of the float lid and it seems to have cured the problem. I have thought this before though too. No overflow in the driveway but does when I am driving. Any thoughts? Tonight I put a fuel pressure gauge inline in front of the front carb. I have a solid and steady 4 1/2 lbs of pressure. Stays the same through out a full RPM range. BTW, I got my carb parts from Ztherapy and the customer service has been outstanding, even though Bruce is probably tired of my questions. :D Thanks guys.

4.5 doesn't seem excessive, I think I'm in that neighborhood with the electric pump. I verified the fuel level by removing the carb pistons and looking down into the main jet. Forgot how high it's supposed to be though. Someone will post the spec.
