Registration for the 2006 Japanese Classic Car Show is now open.
http://www.japaneseclassiccarshow.com/
I don't think you have to be sold on whether to attend or not. The glowing testimonials of last years attendants should be good enough!

I just registered my roadster and truck (I'll need a second driver).
If your coming, I'll see you there! If not, you'll hear how you missed out.

If you consider yourself a member of our informal SoCalRoc (then you are a member), please fill that out on the registration form.

I went through the paypal method and it's pretty clear, but be sure to follow the instructions to get registered correctly.

Here's the blurb from the official site-

On Saturday, September 30, 2006, from 9 am to 3 pm, join us at the Queen Mary in Long Beach for the original 2nd Annual Japanese Classic Car Show!

Last year’s Japanese Classic Car Show was a huge success, with nearly 5,000 people attending. Excellent weather is expected for this year’s show, and car enthusiasts will get to see even more cars than last year!

The winning car will receive JCCS trophies and great prizes. But the real prize is the excitement of seeing cars of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and meeting with other car enthusiasts from all over the U.S.

So come see the “So-Cal Old School Imports really shine at the 2nd Annual Japanese Classic Car Show!

Queen Mary General Parking is available for all the spectators, fee of $3- 10.

*The picture shows the popular Japanese playing cards or “Hana Fuda (“Flower Cards) that contain pictures of flowers, the Moon, the Sun, and animals. In 1980’s Japan, car enthusiasts often used the Hana-fuda images, Japanese symbols (Kanji), and terms from the World War II era (like “Kami-kaze and the “Rising Sun) to symbolize speed and strength. "It’s already been 46 years since the very first Japanese vehicle was ported with a pounding heart in California. Who could have imagined what the remarkable popularity of Japanese cars would be? The continuation of persevering efforts and skills of the Japanese car manufacturers has made this significant improvement - strong will and a priority for “manufacturing high-quality automobiles that satisfy people. And so, the popularity of Japanese classics has grown. The Japanese Classic Car Show is a safe and fun, family oriented event on a sparkling green grass park, in front of the ocean & the mother ship Queen Mary. It is not only about cars, it is about the Japanese culture and respect for old sprits. Bring the kids and enjoy Southern California’s blue skies and peaceful ocean breezes while viewing some of the finest Japanese Classics in America."

Family oriented huh?
Does that mean there won't be any "cheesecake" this year?

By the way I met the guy putting this show on when I was in the auto parts store. He walked in and said" Who's Roadster is that out front?"
I said" That would be me"
He said, 'Come to the Show!"
That was kind of fun to be invited.

Hey Lou,

Got to complete one project at a time.. 1966 KA has just got to get wrapped up..

Plus, driving the spl212 (at a whopping 48hp) 375 miles @ 45 MPH would be a very, very long trip :)

You got your shows confused Linny, the cheese cake photo were from the Niesi Week Showoff. The only Cheese cake at last year's JCCS was Miss Yokohama. Yes she's very pretty, but she's also a true professional spokesmodel.

Well if it was Koji you met, I have no doubt that would be his reaction. It would be rare to find a more Dyed-in-the-wool car nuts, than his wife Terry and he. This show is their effort for only their love for these cars. Not fame or ego, just pure enthusiam.

i would enter but i don't think my car is in show condition. :(

I don't think show condition is a requirement. My car was primered flat black last year and I entered. I was parked next to a 240z with primer spots all over, some type of chevy taillights grafted on it, and a large whale tail.

If you can get it there, why not! It shows the public that these cars are out there in all conditions, and you can keep them on the road and they are great fun driving no matter what they look like. :D

Not to mention you can learn from other owners there just how to fix this or that to get it closer to show condition..if that's what you're after.

See you there!

you got a good point Ron. maybe i will show up with the roadster. for some dumb reason the one thing that is holding me back is that i am missing the steering column cover and that really bothers me. at least i don't have primer spots....

A week or so ago, one member of our Datsun club went to the Good Guys Car show. He had the only Japanese car - one lonely, primered 510 wagon amongst over 3000 cars. He got tons of compliments!

My point is.....GO! Bet you have a blast. 8)
