ALVIN WAS ACTING AS DIRECTED BY ME!! Let's Support Him.

Post by eastmedia »

I understand there was some animosity directed toward Alvin for his portrayal in my Video Clip for the Solvang Movie posted here (now removed from server).

Let me state here definitively that the words Alvin spoke in the "Movie" were from a script that I wrote. I asked him to state the cars worth at $75,000. I approached many other owners and asked them to inflate their prices for the purpose of the "Movie".

So for those "Members" who think that Alvin was "full of himself" an apology would be completely appropriate. I myself fully apologize and regret putting him in this position.

The Solvang Movie does contain the backdrop of Roadster's but is a Fictional accounting of a story I wrote for pure entertainment value.

Alvin is an invaluable member of this community and we are all very fortunate to have had a relationship on this board with a person who has significantly increased the prestige and recognition of our favorite Datsun Roadsters.

I am deeply saddened by a member who allows petty griping and jealousy to be expressed through their posts.

Sincerely,
Ron Eastman
Writer, Director, producer of FairladyWAYS. The Solvang Movie.

Hey Ho, what the heck?

I did notice Steve was busy with the delete key.

I watched the preview, and found Alvin's comments hilarious, totally tongue in cheek, I got a real laugh, especially knowing his sense of humor and unabashed willingness to admit his statements are his own opinions, as well as his foibles (remember the cracked oil pan story!).

Alvin's acting was a riot, cuz it was obvious from his face he wasn't serious. Ron, I dunno, maybe next time some of those Groucho Marx nose&glasses, or maybe a caption "insert laughter here".
Even though we won't see it, it was a job well done.
Once again, just "in my humble opinion",
Fergus O, 69 2L, eager to hear of Alvin's exploits

I would venture that most of the folks on the forum have never met more than a handful of members in person. If it was scripted, then it would have been wise to let folks know that in advance. Some (but not all) of the recent drama would have been bypassed...

$75000, for a roadster? Why not? Jag XKEs go for that all the time. Why; because thats what the market will bring. Same with Austin Healy 3000s, 100-4s, 100-6s. There are far more of those than there are roadsters, however a near perfect half year 2000 will only bring about half that. I say why not inflate the price of the cars, it will only help in the long run.

Sorry, I find modern engine swaps revolting. Keep your G, R, or U series in your Roadster!

Ron,
When I saw your teaser video, I just about fell off my chair laughing listening to Alvin “brag about his $75k Roadster. It was obvious to me he was joking around. Any one who has met him will know he is a good natured, fun loving person who has a passion for Roadsters. Too bad he’s gone.
The board’s loss, not his.

I hope to see him around at some of the events.

I thought something was a little fishy with that part of the movie. I don't know Alvin personally, so I wasn't aware he was kidding first time I watched it. Second time watching it was kind of obvious it was a put-on.

Hopefully he will return some time soon. He is an asset to the forum, and apparently is a pretty convincing actor.

Boy I learned a lot about taking something out of context. I guess you kind of get it when Tim Miner's 14 year old son says he'd sell his for $12,000. "It's a steal", he says!! And he can't even drive.

Mark is accurate. He might have missed Alvin's prior post. Alvin said that he supports the roadster list and plans events, takes photos etc. But no one thanks him and he is unappreciated. He said he supports the Datsun owners. He also said, and I'll paraphrase. I ensured (fixed) a local Datsun show, so that a participant, who felt he should have won at Solvang would win at this show. An interesting admission. Of course, he didn't expose the person's name. He then made this, F**k this list and F**k these people. I think those are proposing sainthood for Alvin, might be a bit misled.

Something ain't right. I never got the impression that Alvin was in it for any public recognition, pats on the back, etc. I felt he did it because he loves futzing with roadsters and roadster people. Heck, if it weren't for Alvin, I wouldn't even have a roadster.

And not receiving any thanks? Almost every time he provided information, -ESPECIALLY- all the pics, people were thanking him.

Very strange...very strange... :?
