My speedometer cable has a T adapter at the transmission end. There is nothing inside to make it turn, and nothing to turn the cable. If I take the adapter off, it looks like the cable will just screw onto the transmission. How is the cable supposed to attach to the Transmission? (70 1600)

Glen:
The cable end has a small tab on the end to engage a slot in one end the adapter pinion.
The other end of the adapter uses about a 3/4 to 1" long pin (which has a small tab at each end) to engage the adapter pinion slot to the slot at the transmission when the adapter is attached.
Sometimes the tabbed pin is lost when removing the adapter or forgotten to be put back in place when installing to the transmission.
Hope this helps.
