flat dash grey

Post by ppeters914 »

Gerardo did a great how-to on repainting the flat dash using Eastwood's black krinkle paint:

Anyone know the color and/or how-to to repro the original grey like this Solvang 2006 Stunner?

Sid suggested using grey primer on top of the black krinkle.

Thanks.

Primer generally has clay in it. I wouldn't think it would be the best final surface because it will absorb stuff!

VHT makes a wrinkle finish gray in a spray can that is available online from the following site:

I used this with good result. Just watch the airtemp when you are painting and aim for a consistent coating. Also, be patient as it will take awhile before the wrinkling starts.

I can't say about the early or late cars, but on my 67.5 1600 the dash was wrinkle black from the factory, not grey.

the 3 seat 1500s had body color dashes. The 2 seat 1500s and pre 67.5 1600s had gray wrinkle dashes. The 67.5 had black wrinkle dashes. The 68 - end of production had molded dashes...
