Pics of my project

Post by glennhuff »

Finally got pictures of my car on the web. I wish I had some before pictures. The only thing I can say is that it set outside for about ten years before I got it, and the PO used the bucket of a tractor to push it out of the way. Hope everyone approves.[uhttp://community.webshots.com/album/549864723sdPtyerl]

That's red hot! What's the paint called? Let me guess, "Red Hot Chilli Pepper"? :D Please also post some interior and engine bay pics if you don't mind. Thanks.

Deja Vu. That's so funny, my car looked almost exactly like that last winter, bagged up for paint in a garage. Looking very nice. Did you paint it in that same garage? I built plastic walls all around, adn still had a few problems with airborne contaminants, but I came out happy in the end. Great job.

Wow that's red! I hate to see ANOTHER 665 yellow car go red. Will I be the last 665 yellow car left? Hey, you painted your vapor can!

Hey Victor,
While sanding down my car way under the 4 layers of paint, what do you think I found? 665 yellow? So this was as close as I could get to original.
No Red for me!

Well, if it makes you feel any better Victor, I am strongly leaning towards painting my car yellow and it was originally red. However, I am probably going to use something a bit brighter than 665.

Andy,
Is that going to be Rustoleoum yellow done with a paint brush? Can't wait to see it :)

With a roller!
I am thinking of using their Sunburst Yellow.
I am going to test the technique on a spare hood first, so stay tuned for those results.

That's right, with a roller!
Remember that Home Depot can color match if you bring them a sample. Therefor you could buy a pint of any color auto paint, (in yellow I would choose the Porsche yellow around 1979), give Home Depot the lid of the can, or bring the can in, then have them match it . I would get a 5 gal size so that you don't run out of paint because it would be too hard to match exactly again. You'd have plenty of paint cheap and it could be the exact color of any color on any car you see. Well nearly exact, pretty close really. Why be limited to the Rustoleum colors, unless you want to?

Thanks for all the compliments. Yes, I did paint it myself in the garage. It got a few bugs in it, and a little orange peel, but overall I'm very happy with it. I think the color was just called brite red. I didn't even look at what make/year it was. I'll try to keep my pictures updated.
