A friend lent us his 318i in '86 or so when he lost his driving priviledges for a year so it wouldn't sit idle. That vehicle (which was in excellent condition) sure unimpressed us regarding bimmers; gutless performance and no place for a coffee cup!
I know the 318i isn't the best car to evaluate an entire brand on. We test drove a Z4 when they first came out - BAM! Sure did $h!t 'n' git with the 3.0L engine!

Looks nice Evan! The girls at school will be impressed. I would just fix what it needs and drive it as they can be dependable cars. I never got excited by them as a driver's car even though that is their tag line, but hey, that is my issue.
It sure looks like a clean ride as it sits!

That was the plan, but I think it'd be nice to do the civc mods: exhaust, cold air, eibach springs, and maybe cheap rims.I would just fix what it needs and drive it as they can be dependable cars.
My dad said somethng along those lines, but said it could be a good auto-x racer.... and the interior does feel a little flimsy...I never got excited by them as a driver's car even though that is their tag line, but hey, that is my issue.
I would blame that on your old age ... but dang I love that camera!!!It sure looks like a clean ride as it sits!

Evan,
I figured out why the BMW looks so good in the pics. You can see the Camaro in the background! Everyone knows that if you are ugly and stand beside someone uglier, you suddenly don't look so bad!!
Just funnin on ya. Have fun with the Panzer...

Update on the bimmer: found a starter for $40, key job is $21, and changed the plugs. I also was lookin in the trunk and saw wires to wire up an aftermarket amp! I have a 15" woofer and MTX amp in the garage... soon as its running its gettin some ICE!! Dont worry Joaquin, no bling bling, im thinkin some Kosei K1s.....

Just an old farts opinion, but...
First thing, nice find it looks like a pretty well kept car.
OK, now the second thing. Just a piece of hard earned knowlege, feel free to ignore it, I did at your age and still do occasionally. Only one car at a time is the project, the other is transportation. When the project is done and dependable, then you can switch and build the other one if you want. Every dollar and every hour you spend on the BMW is that much longer until the Datsun is done. Fix what's broke and keep it maintained and dependable. Unless you have alot of money to spend, you will be driving 2 unfinished cars for a long time. And if you don't hack it up, you can get a good price for it when you sell it. Also, a nice quiet stock BMW will keep you from attracting attention from the local police and getting those little creative driving awards they like to hand out. I had about 62 of them between age 17 and 19, hard on the wallet and the insurance policy.
I can guess that just about everyone on the forum who can have more than one car keeps a dependable runner on the road.
