Rear Dampener Mounting Nut -- several questions please

I just pulled the entire rear end from my 70. Two of the last things were the top mounts for the rear dampeners.
WTF is up with these nuts? 7/8 and 22mm wrenches were too small. 15/16 was too big.
Depending on where I put a caliper to measure the nuts, I get .94xmm, give or take and between 23.9x" and 24.0x"
So, what frelling size wrench is supposed to be used here? I was able to get them off by using the 15/16 and being very very careful to not round them off.
Can I safely assume that I can reuse these nuts?
Are they nylocs or some sort of cutting nut like the front suspension bushings? I ask this because on one I ended up with a small pit of what had to be cut off thread and both the inside of the nuts and the mounting stud appear to be slightly flattened like the suspension bushings look like.
Thanks
