Rear Dampener Mounting Nut -- several questions please

I just pulled the entire rear end from my 70. Two of the last things were the top mounts for the rear dampeners.

WTF is up with these nuts? 7/8 and 22mm wrenches were too small. 15/16 was too big.

Depending on where I put a caliper to measure the nuts, I get .94xmm, give or take and between 23.9x" and 24.0x"

So, what frelling size wrench is supposed to be used here? I was able to get them off by using the 15/16 and being very very careful to not round them off.

Can I safely assume that I can reuse these nuts?

Are they nylocs or some sort of cutting nut like the front suspension bushings? I ask this because on one I ended up with a small pit of what had to be cut off thread and both the inside of the nuts and the mounting stud appear to be slightly flattened like the suspension bushings look like.

Thanks

Mine are nylocs.
It appears that OEM replacements may be a challenge to find
If the hex is damaged I would prefer to replace, perhaps someone has some good used nuts

Yes, nylocs... I have a distinct memory of BURNING THE NYLON OUT OF THEM WITH A TORCH after finally getting them out cause I wasn't going through THAT again. Can't help you on the size but it may have been a good ol Cresent wrench that got them out after a very long and stupidly unnecessary battle. Thread locker (Loctite) works fine.

Correct me if I am off-base, but isn't a '70 like my '69, so
Metric drivetrain (engine and trans only, but not mounts)
and SAE body (so like everything else, including brakes) ?

These work fine in place of the OEM:

OEM is a nyloc.

Did you post a lug nut because the threads are the same as the mounts' threads?

These provide a full 0.656" worth of threads, and there is still room for a jam nut behind, or simply use mild Loctite (as Greg mentioned) if concerned about loosening. These have secured the Boge on my stock SRL for years now with no loosening.
