Trans oil capacity
Saw discussion of Swepco 201 and will likely change to that but I haven’t located the what the oil capacity is of the 4 speed transmission of the ‘68 1600. Any help with that capacity detail is appreciated.

Re: Trans oil capacity
75oz. So 2.34 quarts or until full. About two more pints for the rear end so a gallon has you covered.

Re: Trans oil capacity
DO NOT short fill the transmission, the countershaft is literally the oil pump for the transmission. If you short fill it, some of the countershaft gears will not touch the oil and the main shaft matching gear will be oil starved and burn the needle bearing on that gear.

Re: Trans oil capacity
Let's face it, once it starts to come out of the filling hole, it's got enough oil!

Or too much , many many times the Trans wasn't leaking out the tail shaftNissanman wrote: Tue Apr 22, 2025 9:03 pm Let's face it, once it starts to come out of the filling hole, it's got enough oil!
Until it was topped up , days later here it is dripping out of the back mostly because of the yoke worn ( no practical fix , then ) so we would drain a pint or 1.5 like it had been , it's not a problem
