Vintage Autocross Class

I had posted this a couple of weeks ago, but it got lost somehow.
In the August issue of Grassroots Motorsports, there was a proposal made by Per Schroeder for a Vintage Autocross class for pre-1973 cars (and some cars who continued after 1973 without major design changes (MGB, BMW 2002). He proposed four classes,
V1 - fast ligthweigh (Lotus Elan, 911)
V2 - fast, heavy (Corvette, Camaro)
V3 - Traditional Roadsters (Alfa Spider, 914)
V4 - Less potent sportscars (MGB, 510)
They would run under, primarily, Street Prepared rules with a few exceptions. Alternate cams would be allowed.
He suggests e-mailing the Solo Events Board to give input on the subject. I did and got a nice e-mail back from them. They said it was still very early and didn't know if it'd fly.
I also e-mailed Per to ask him if they would separate the 1600 from the 2000, since they are listed on the same line in the Street Prepared category. This makes the 1600 uncompetitive in street prepared. I would thing there would be a lot of cars out there with modifications that get them into CSP, but still have a 1600 in them. I thought, hey if vintage class would put the 2000 in V3 and put the 1600 in V4, it'd open up a good number of cars to soloing. (And, mine, in particular. Boy I'm a selfish so and so
). But, to no avail. Per e-mailed back saying he thought the success of the class might depend on sticking to a known formula like SP.
Oh well, the class is starting in the southeast. I'm assuming in the Florida Georgia area, since that's where GRM is based. I don't know if they've run yet or not.
