No US spec cars were 150 hp, so it must have been converted. Before you buy you should confirm that it has the Solex’s, B cam, non smog distributor, and 7.5 qt aluminum oil pan. Canadian cars may have had 150 hp, but not sure if they got it in 1970. By the way reproduction blank VIN plates are readily available. I hope it is a true 150 hp car, the are a hoot as are the 135 hp cars.

I haven't seen the car in person yet, just photos from the seller. The nameplate says 150 hp, and it has Makuni carbs. I'm going to try a Carfax.

Phil, I will be in Smyrna teaching a class at the Nissan plant in late March. If you'd like to get together one evening and talk about roadsters, PM me and we can work something out.

The only time that you could get the 150hp engine in a Roadster in the US was 1967. They were badged 135hp, but many were delivered with the 150hp engine. A 1970 in the US would have been a smogged 135hp engine.

I could be wrong...but I don't believe CarFax works on these cars.

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Nissan roadsters. So there is no way a 70 roadster in the United States would ever be delivered with the Mikuni PHH carburetors, the 70 roadster is the first and only year that had a non vented fuel/gas cap, carbon canister and carburetor float bowls not vented to atmosphere. On the other had Nissan Motorsports sold 150 horsepower model ID tags that were blank and you could stamp your VIN and engine numbers on. Also with all the other emissions devices you would most likely never get it to run correctly. All of that aside the B spec cam and Mikuni’s make for a great driving experience.
