As I begin to reinstall everything on my 68, I am wondering if there is an "intelligent sequence" to putting everything back under the dash. For example, I would hate to put the heater box in and then have to take it back out because something should have gone first, like maybe the wiper motor assembly. I checked the Tech wiki, but did not find anything. I used the one for removing the body. Also, I will definitely use the one for reassembling the inside of the doors. These are excellent tools and much appreciated! I wish I had written things down as I dismantled. Thanks,
Steve

Re: Sequence for Everything Under Dash?
I just did the "under dash" thing on my '67, not too long ago, after installing sound deadening mat on the firewall and under the cowl / dash area.
I put the cowl drain hose in first, then the wiper motor & linkages, then the heater box, and defrost hoses, air duct & fan, and then the glove box, and glove box door, then the center front console (panel with the vent controls, and radio), and gear shifter cover plate, shifter, and shifter knob, in that order....Kind of a back to front, and top to bottom process. I don't know how intelligent it was, but I've had the wiper assembly, heater box, cowl drain hose, and radio removed, and re-installed independently, several times previously, so when it came time for the sound insulation, I was pretty familiar with what interfered with what. Your '68 configuration would be somewhat different than my '67, but I would think the sequence should be fairly similar.

Re: Sequence for Everything Under Dash?
As little aside, I would suggest that you provide a ground wire from the console ground connection to the mounting frames of all of the dash gauges. This will eradicate any faulty grounds caused by dirt, paint etc. and ensure reliability with the instruments.
A simple job and won't take you long.
EDIT:Just to elaborate, I used one wire at the ground terminal and then looped it between all the gauges.

Re: Sequence for Everything Under Dash?
Thanks Mike! That was exactly what I was looking for.
Also, thanks Nissanman. This is a good suggestion. The old Chevy's I used to work on had bus-bars that made for a good ground for most everything in the dash. I would not have thought of this.
