Oil Gallery Plugs, remove or not?

Hello Hive Mind!
I'm getting really close to the rebuild phase of my R16 engine and was reviewing the Reassembly section of the Datsun Roadster Book. In the first paragraph it recommends removing the oil gallery plugs to clean out the main oil gallery. Those who have rebuilt engines in the past, is this something you've done? If you have, where did you get replacement plugs? Or did you tap the block and just add a threaded plug?
Thanks!

I removed the plugs but can’t remember where I got replacements. They were either in the kit I got from Dean or I purchased them from a local auto parts shop.

Peace, Pat

Remove the plugs and clean it the right way and install new plugs. They are available, I have an inventory of them and I am sure some of the other vendors do too. You really do want to clean out all of the oil galleries.

Thanks Pat and Dave, I haven't been able to find any for individual sale on the typical vendor sites. I suppose they could be buried in a kit somewhere but they weren't in the kit I purchased. Granted I didn't get the kit that absolutely EVERYTHING.
Dave, would you be willing to sell me a pair?

Any Nissan Parts dealer should have if you get stuck.

If your boiling the block, you need it out to blow out the line , most engines have a diverted valve that comes out to clean ,sludge builds up more the farther in a line it is, but I'd bet its stuck pretty good and likely won't budge I remember the machine shop calling back saying, it was & what do you want to do ?
the L series did
The A14 didn't I think

I normally remove the plugs and tap the holes for "dryseal" screw in plugs. Makes it way easier next time.

Yes I can sell you a set of them. Just contact me when you need them. You will also need some green Loctite to install them, that is the bearing and stud set Loctite.
