My New Bikini Top

Inspired by fellow members Pete Harrison, and Greg Burrows, I have now semi completed a version of my own shade Top. No need for a front bow as I have used some canvas awning tracks and PVC coated canvas. The track adapts to preexisting holes along the top where the chrome molding goes. And the top just slides right into the track from either side. Utilized the rear teardrop hooks for strap down with a D-ring. I may add a center support bar but that’s about as simple as it gets. Thanks too to my better half(Diane) for sewing it all up.

That's perfect. Just enough coverage to keep the hot California sun off your head but still get all the fresh air benefits. I love it.

Looks good, I would agree it will make a big difference in the sun, and helps when it gets cold. I love mine. I am a bit concerned that your ingenious non-bow front mount may struggle with speed/air, having experienced driving a lot with one. Is there any way to anchor it with pins that go through the rail, or have you already tested it and found it good? I'd hate for it to come unhooked up front and having it fly back in your face!

We call that a Bimini Top around here. This is one I had made for my Morgan.
You have inspired me to make one for SPL311-00054.

Redroadster, It does buffet and start to ride up the rear sides a bit. I’m going to affix it to the bar at those 2 points but works great at 70-80 mph. Pretty happy with the outcome!

Nice! It appears that having a roll bar is required for this design. Pat

Roll bar or the center hoop section from a soft top frame.

The bar is actually fake built from 1 inch conduit welded together and covered in foam insulation. It is not functional. I utilized the softtop mounting hole to attach it to the body.

That's great! I have noticed some fluttering on mine at speed, and have considered installing a thin bar that runs fore and aft down the center. Your solution for the front bow is ingenious. Mine takes a bit more room to store, looks like yours could be stored in a small bag. Fun when stuff like this works out!
