U20 5 speed preservation

Hello all, my engine rebuild will soon be back from shop. Trying to be prepared to bring it back together with transmission. The car came with engine out separated from transmission. Interesting in that PO apparently was able to separate them leaving transmission in the car.
In short I find no plate to reinstall between them. In reading threads here one seemed to say needs to double up 1600 plate to get correct thickness. Another seemed to read perhaps donโ€™t need one between U20 and 5 speed transmission. I think in the thread recommending doubling up 1600 plate indicated can damage transmission without proper thickness. Looking for some help from the community. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Use a 5 speed plate or 2 4 speed plates. The 5 speed plate is twice as thick. If you use only one 4 speed plate the input shaft will be touching the end of the crankshaft and it will act like the clutch is not disengaging and you will not be able to put it in gear and take off.
