Fuel pump
Hello all, I was finally able to rebuild my carbs thanks to Brian at Sin City Datsuns. Issue I'm having now is priming the mechanical fuel pump. Any tips and tricks on how to do it? Engine cranks.

Re: Fuel pump
Joshua,
Several suggestions.
-Fill the carbs with fuel & start the engine. Fuel should be pulled through the system within a 10-15 seconds.
-If you have access to a hand vacuum pump you can connect it to the outlet of the pump & pump it until you get some fuel.
- If the fuel tank is not full you can pressurize the fuel tank by blowing into the filler neck while someone cranks the engine. Be careful not to breathe in or release your pressure fast or fuel could come out of the neck. When I do this I put a rag over the neck to catch any fuel coming out.
There may be an air leak in the fuel system between the tank & the pump. If you have a glass fuel filter, they are prone to leak.
Peace, Pat
