Roll bar identification

Replacing my racing Roadsters old roll bar because it is not high enough. On removal did notice a “DR-1” stamping on the bar base. Just wondering who made the bar as the car has a lot of Datsun competition parts on it. Anyone have idea who made this?

Looks like a custom/home-brew roll bar, with a diagonal and door bar tab added. I don't think Datsun Comp offered a roll bar but I'll let the experts chime in.

I'm guessing an Autopower street bar to which someone added the crossbrace?

I’m not sure, but it would appear from what looks like a seam in the crossbrace and the quality of the welds at each end that crossbrace was added later. Roll bar material is ALWAYS seamless, there is a problem with seams as they can cause a failure in the bar when you need it most. Older Autopower bars, pre 90’s were very similar in construction to the bar in the photo. In the very early 90’s Autopower began making their bars as a bolt together product for ease of shipping and putting them in a smaller shipping box. I know this because in 94 I ordered a bar for a tall windshield roadster that I had to bolt on the back support legs.

Got car and roll bar without much build data. Agree it does look like cross bar was added since not same material as main hoop.

As a matter of fact I am replacing it with a new Autopower bar that is taller and has supports mounted closer to top of hoop which is required. It does have the bolt in rear bars as you mentioned.

Thank you. Will check with Autopower on old bar since kind of curious.
