2024 Update, Serving the Community & Store Schedule

Post by Datsunparts.comInc »

I want to thank everyone for supporting us last year and their patience in waiting for us to open back up through our time to restock and end of year inventory inspection. We open tomorrow February 1st.

It has been stated publicly that, because I have a lot of over stock, I should give back to the community of roadster owners that support me by giving discounts on parts to the community. The inference was that I do not give back and do this. So let me set the record straight. Look at this report below that shows that on my, 3-day Black Friday sale of 2023, I gave nearly $31,000.00 worth of discounts back to customers. That is more than some cottage industry businesses make in a year.
For the past 37 + years I have consistently run Holiday sales. I do sales because I choose to and it is my way of saying thank you to the community. I do not need to do this. I could keep it all for myself, but give away a lot of profits to help people with their restoration projects.
I do not need any praise or complements or any criticism. Let me serve you like I am doing. You seem to like it.

This year I have some challenges and things to take care of that I have put off for years. Please look at our 2024 Store Schedule https://datsunparts.com/pages/store-schedule so you can take note of the times we will be available. This may change. If in doubt, check this page and thank you again for all your support and understanding.

Dean, I'm sorry you have to "explain or defend" yourself... makes for an awkward feeling/condition. The days of buying parts for next to nothing (as I was so fortunate to have been able to do) are gone, but in general the cars are still affordable and the work that you and other vendors have done to make that happen, to source parts or remanufacture/create new and then offer discounts is very much appreciated!

Seems that a lot of people just never learned the law of supply and demand. They also don’t appear to be familiar with economy of scale when having parts manufactured. I’m currently helping a friend restore an Opel GT and the parts are just a fraction of the cost of similar Roadster parts. It’s easy to understand when you know that over twice as many Opel GT’s were built than Datsun roadsters. On top of that other than body parts most everything else is the same as the Opel Kadet, and I suspect hundreds of thousands of those were sold. Dean said he has over 900 reflectors in stock, that’s a significant amount of capital invested. We are lucky that any of our vendors are willing to risk their money to have parts made that may take many years of sales to return a profit.
As for Dean’s sale, I saved well over $100 on one single part! So thank you Dean and all our vendors who are risking their own money to keep our cars on the road.
