Steering worm & peg

Post by Ali_in_UK »

Hi All,
Not sure if I am in the correct discussion but here goes my 1964 1500 steering had way too much play and to cut a long story short after discussions with the steering specialists they have sent the dismantled Type A box back to me the worm looks fine minimal wear but sadly the peg is very worn with some damage to the curved head - is there supposed to be a lip where the cylinder meets the head I am boxing it all up again and sending to another specialist who I have been told have a bit more experience with worm and peg boxes so fingers crossed.

A couple of questions are these pegs still available from anyone and are they original or good quality remanufactured, I did notice on the Ralle Enterprises website three Roller Peg (481-05 to 07) for $87.88 I think these are what I am looking for? am I correct, though I have had problems getting parts from them in the past.

Hope some of you experts can help in any way would be much appreciated I will put this request on a couple of the Facebook pages that I now frequent as well.

Will try and attach a couple of pics if it helps.

Regards
Al Preston

Hi Al,
Is your 1500 a right hand drive or left? If it’s a right hand drive you might want to reach out to the Australian roadster guys who are more likely to come up with parts. Otherwise see if you can find a donor box here in the states. Good luck with your quest.
