Frame metal thickness
I did see in an old post about body panel metal thickness where one member mentioned that the frame was 14gauge. That’s thinner than I would have expected but since it’s a box channel I suppose 14 could be correct. Anyway could someone with easy access to a frame (preferably a cut off section) check the metal thickness. Thanks, Jim.

Re: Frame metal thickness
Frame. The picture here has three layers. I’ll be getting my roller in a week or so when I can look and see where there are layers and determine metal gauge at different points as needed .
I mentioned body panels only in context where one post on body panels mentioned as a side point that the frame was 14g. Offhand I expect that most of the frame is single wall (no layers) in something closer to 1/8” than 14g but I’ll get that info when my roller arrives.
Reason I was asking is that my plan is to weld in the portion of a Mustang foxbody K-member that contains the motor mount pads and a crossmember. I would be welding 1/8” on the crossmember to whatever the roadster is there. Need to know what gauge steel the 1/8” will be welded to. No problem if it’s not a simple question with a simple answer. I can determine the gauge once the car is here and I know the location at that K-member attachment point.
