Roadster Invasion at ZCON 2024 in Tampa - Sep 9-14

There is a huge Datsun event called ZCON being held in Tampa next year (Sept 9-14 www.zcon.org ). I have engaged some of the organizers to promote having some Roadster focus that week, including our own trophy class on peoples choice day and our own Autocross event day They say this just needs at least 10 Roadsters registered to make it worth the organizers effort. I hope you will put this on your calendar and tell all the roadster owners you know about it. A year from now, I expect to have had a great time.

They have not opened registration. For now it would be great to see some posts from anyone who thinks they can make it to the event. I'm hoping for a good response here to share with the organizers.

Central Florida is a great location for a Roadster gathering. My project could be farther away from completion than one year, but it's on the calendar.

I just now googled "new york datsun meet" and found nothing. Not to mention there's a lot more to the East Coast than New York. It's great that there are so many West Coast events, we just want somethings to happen on this side too. When/where is this event?

The organizers say they will be updating the website to show Tampa next year soon. If you google ZCON Tampa you will find so.e information too.

Well, let's hope the dates don't conflict next year. I couldn't find an official Watkins Glen 2024 date here on 311s.org or on Facebook. Has it been posted somewhere?

Yes, the Watkins Glen meetup always coincides with the Vintage Grand Prix weekend (http://www.grandprixfestival.com/) and the SVRA racing, as mentioned above. The actual meetup will be the morning of Saturday, Sept 7th but roadster owners usually plan various informal events from Thursday to Sunday. Nothing really gets organized officially until summertime. But if anyone plans to go, getting a hotel now would be advisable because they are pretty hard to find for that weekend. The Car Shows, Fun Runs and Events channel on this site tends to get more posts in it regarding meetups, so keep an eye there too.

Good luck with your efforts, it’s tougher than you think. I hope you get something started. Unfortunately for me living in Oklahoma, Florida is as distant as the west coast. I’ve been pushing for roadster owners in the central part of the country to come to the Lake Garnett Grand Prix Revival near Kansas City for several years now with little success. This is an event that draws 150 to 200 mostly vintage sports cars of all makes and models for a weekend of autocross, track time (speed limited up to 100mph), and a car show. In spite of all it offers, the Datsun roadster attendance has been disappointing, this year we will have 5 that I know of. The promoters have even offered to make us the featured mark and an extra track session if we could get a dozen or so commitments.
Keep posting here and on the Datsun roadster Facebook page and maybe you can get something going.

I helped organize several SCCA events when I had my first 2 roadsters in the late 70's. I am willing to put in the effort to get a recurring annual roadster focused event in the Southeast.

Put Roadster in your search and there are plenty of results. It’s the weekend after Labor Day, every year. I know there is more to the East Coast than NY, but there’s also more to the East Coast than Florida, so saying a Florida meet is East Coast is the same thing
