Received this email from Jason (Just Dashes) today explaining some of the pricing practices of JD

Hi Pete,

Good chatting with you. As I mentioned, the higher pricing you mentioned was brief, mainly because we got a handful of Datsun Roadster dashes that were obliterated and it brought the average price up quite a bit.

Here's the average pricing we've been seeing on the Datsun Roadsters lately....

$1,900 Molded Dash (w/Clock in Center) and Glove Box Door
$600 Radio Box 2 Piece
$1,300 Console & Lid (Send all metal trim pcs for fit and possible detail)
$500 Fabricate New Console Lid, if customer doesn't have one
$400-650 Detail metal trim pcs for console & radio box
$400 Steering Column Cover
$300 Shifter Plate
$400 Metal Door Rails (each)

And here are the instructions we've been sending to customers for photo inspections...

Do you have the dash out of the car?
If so, we can do a photo inspection and see what kind of quote we can provide based on that. We would need 4-6 photos in total...

1. Whole dash from the front
2. Whole dash from the back
3. Photo from each side (2 photos)
4. Photo(s) of any really bad areas

Please let us know if you have any questions. Happy to help.

Thanks,
Jason

Pay It Forward

I will be picking up a new center console (High) from JD tmw - destined for Eliza - but she is in paint for quite some time, so I don't need it right NOW.

If anyone wants a DONE console, including LID, then the following has to happen.

Send me yours, I will take it round to JD to get a quote. You arrange financing payment with them.
I send you mine and I keep the one from JD

I just got mine back from JD yesterday after sending it there in December (to take advantage of 2022 prices before they went up), so turn around time was just a tick over 7 months. I must say the dash and console are beautiful! They also did a great job refinishing the ashtray surround metal. I really appreciate the foam underlay which makes it feel so much nicer. They cleaned and repainted all the underside of the dash and console too.

I also "donated" another rough roadster dash to JD for them to have for someone else who might need it (actually traded it for the shipping costs).

Here are a few pics, started loading the gauges last night.
