Thoughts?

While looking for early Dash Paint threads, one member was pleased with the results he got with VHT Gray wrinkle paint (SP205) for his 1966/67. It's high-temperature rated, so I'm guessing it's largely utilized under the hood. I'm just curious if anyone has used VHT wrinkle (in any hue) and then a 2k clear over it. When I contacted VHT, they said they hadn't tested clear over their paint and were concerned about the wrinkling finish if they did. Thoughts?

I'm no paint expert, but once the wrinkle is cured, I don't see why you would need to be worried about a clear coat... I would not think it would lift etc or attack a cured product. I would consider testing this theory on a scrape piece of metal.

While at a local car show I cam across a old Corvair with a black wrinkle finished dash panel (VHT). It actually had a glossy look to it and really nice! Wish I had a pic to show you.

VHT is good, though for my dash I had it crinkle powder coated.

I used the VHT wrinkle gray on my dash and it turned out great. I hadn't thought about doing clear over it
