310 crank vent tube rear L side of engine

Post by Ali_in_UK »

Hi Guys,

Having a play with my 64 1500 Roadster at the moment (my 1600 70 on hold due to our DVLA Government Dept) I have noticed I do not have a vent pipe on the engine just a hole have gone on the usual places for parts not had any luck just wondered if anybody had any dimensions etc of said pipe as I thought about trying to make something up myself.

Cheers in anticipation

You may want to reach out to Ross at Sports Imports in Canada. He likely has one.

Thank you that would be very useful, managed to measure the hole in block which is 28mm but other dimensions would be useful.

As a person who has experimented with a crank scraper on a U20, be 100% sure the dip stick does not sit against the scraper or the vibration will drive you nuts! Also, give a little extra clearance for minor crank movements fore and aft. Once it's on, it's on.

Thanks Greg. As you can tell I had to do some surgery myself as indicated by the white marker. These pics. are over 7 years old and the engine has been fine. Hard to tell how many HP the crank scraper is worth, at least 10 I'd say

Hi Pat,
I would be very interested if you do have one if you have the bolt that holds it in would be nice as well but not the end of the world if you have not I,ve probably have one in one of my many boxes of bits, so if you have one would be very helpful.

Many thanks Nissanman (sorry not sure what your christian name is) your pic showing vent very helpful so got my torch and mirror out to see inside and spotted the thread.

I,m not quite sure about some things on the 1500 but learning fast spotted that the chrome soft top frame was wrong way round the other day and heater matrix disconnected so expect there is a leak somewhere though don,t expect to be using her in the middle of Winter ( the highways people put down lots of salt here on the roads ) so probably Summer use only, I hope to put a couple of pics on here some time to show my efforts of tidying up the paint work trying to avoid a respray for a while.

Cheers
Al
