Have a look in a parts store for a replacement clevis pin and clip. Diameter is critical, length can be greater than stock.

**EDIT - I believe I misunderstood which part was 56. But this a good part #35, LOL.** This is where I bought mine. Excellent quality BTW:

We have those in stock. (part 49/50 on the exploded view) It's specific metric sizing- not a hardware store item.

But Pin #56 is totally different (also not a hardware store part-no way) Do you actually need #56?

We have a tons (literally) of transmission parts!

JT, I'm about 99% sure #56 is the pin I lost when the angle grinder attacked me as I was wire-wheeling the case. That, and I broke the plastic breather tube, not to mention the giant wire-wheel gash I got across my belly. Good times.

I do need some other items from you, so I'll double-check the pin number and get in touch.

JT, I think you're right, it was part 49/50 - I dug through my photos, and looked at the site Greg shared, please see below and let me know.

Well, Pat... losing sh** is one of my superpowers.

After we rebuilt the tranny, I was cleaning the case and I took the pin out to better clean the nooks and crannies. When the 15 lb angle grinder attacked me, stuff flew everywhere - into a foot of pine needles... I tried for a long time waving a magnet around the ground. If I remember correctly, I think I actually found the C-clip, but I'm not sure.

I was also in quite a bit of pain.

Ouch! Be glad it didn't hit you in the face! I wear glasses now (grrrrr) and am sometimes remiss about added eye protection when using power tools... good reminder.

After checking the size of the pin hole and finding it just over 7mm I bought some 7mm round stock. Fits perfectly. Unfortunately I bought titanium and it is not possible for me to thread by hand. I've drilled it before but forget threading. Didn't check on that.

Ordered some stainless and HSS steel. I can put it in the drill press and turn it down with a file for 1/4" thread. Be much easier to get off then the snap rings on the original.

I need 3 of them.

the pin needs to be hardened. You can start with a grade 8 bolt and use a lathe, works ok, but is a lot of work considering. Why not just use the correct part?

Correct part if I had one would be a PITA to remove or install. Snap rings right? No thanks. I can reach right down in to the hole with a wrench and get it on or off. I would have to own the car for the next 50 years for the amount I drive to wear it out.

Not true Curtis. The snap ring isn’t that hard to install (use a hemostat) and a non-hardened part will wear out surprisingly quickly- I learned that when I was a kid when I made one from a mild steel bolt. It didn’t last 1 year. A grade8 part works ok, just harder to make. The correct part is the way to do it right. (We sent Peter the correct part)
